My topic for this week deals in the matter of Accounting necessity. Accounting is one of the hardest courses to take as a business undergraduate. It is a very painful course. Much of this pain is due to its inapplicability to non-Accounting and Finance majors. We as managers are expected to have an Accounting department in any respectable sized firm. This means that to learn Accounting would put those individuals out of necessity, and therefor out of work. Two whole years of in-debth Accounting and Finance classes is ridiculous. I understand the need to know a general background, but that can be done in a one semester combination of the two classes. These coursed have caused countless hours of stress and agony for me, let alone the countless others who do not need this course, and will never use it in their daily lives. Instead of these coursed Universities should teach courses that we will use, like a course on how to do your taxes, even when and how to file for bankruptcy.
I do not know why I wrote about this, I just needed to vent anger.
